This print is from the series All that I know, a portfolio of 10 prints that form part of the Tableaux of Dreams collection, a highly individual and deeply personal set of paintings, drawings, and etchings. The works deal with the unreliability of memory and a wish to ‘reimagine’ the past in a way that is better suited to our needs.
Etching, printed and hand tinted by the artist, on Saunders 300gsm paper in a strictly limited edition of 25 prints. Image size 27 x 21cm, Paper size 38 x 28cm, Framed size 57 x 47 x 3cm.

My early years spent in the Middle East awoke a passion for myth and mythology. The influence of the stories and symbolism of the ancient world have mingled in my mind to produce a lively and varied personal iconography.

The Pie and Eel Shop was part of my London heritage, but I was never a big fan. It’s one of a series of shop fronts on the home page of my website that provide a link to different sections of my portfolio.
When working on more complex images in my ‘Tableaux of Dreams’ series I must let each individual icon be seen in isolation. For this project I’m combining the two icons into one image and that gives me a great deal of freedom to play with colour, tone, and emphasis. The base print is an etching, and the colour is applied as a monoprint, so each artwork is an individual creation.
This is a work in three parts – All in my mind, All that I know, and Journey through life. It is a highly individual and deeply personal collection of paintings, drawings and etchings.
