Town’s work spans more than 50 years and shows considerable breadth. As a useful aid, his oeuvre is broken down into three distinct periods and further divided into sub-sections where a limited number of pieces are shown. The time periods and divisions are somewhat artificial as recurrent themes flow throughout his work, with some remaining constant.

Landscape Abstract

Town’s abstract series of prints and paintings represent works where the narrative is more ambiguous but ever-present. He sees landscapes, interior spaces and natural forms as abstract shapes and colours and transcribes these onto canvas.

Stairscapes

Many of Town’s paintings in this Stairscapes series use strong shapes and primary colours, whilst others are quieter and more contemplative as they represent a more tranquil inner space.

Tableaux

Drawing on a lifetime of international travel and cultural explorations, Town often returns to mythical subjects recalled from his early childhood spent on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.
